Washington Dc Orthodontist Is Bruxism In Kids Harzardous

Submitted by: Chasecl Austin

Bruxism is a condition in which children grind or clench their teeth while they sleep.Anxiety, frustration, and stress can trigger the condition in children. This condition in children is harmless and clears by itself over time. If bruxism becomes severe, there are several treatment options.

Anxiety, stress and hyperactivity are common tendencies seen in children with bruxism. Bruxism and upper airway blockage in children are inter connected.

Difficulty in breathing while sleeping is also caused by enlarged tonsils. These enlarged adenoids or tonsils obstruct the airway. One notable thing is that this children breath through the mouth. Increased activities like jaw, teeth and chewing are thought to cause arousals during sleep. Severe bruxism in children is a lead cause of frequent arousals and disturbance of daytime functioning.

In order to have an open airway and ease the breathing, children tend to pull there jaw forward. This will end up in the child clenching the teeth because of stimulation of the receptors in the upper airway.

While mouth breathing and snoring are common in children, most parents do not consider it to be a serious matter.

Children under the age of 5 are more prone to developing the condition than older children. By the time they reach 10 years, most children outgrow bruxism in most cases. When children have misaligned teeth, they are more likely to grind or clench their teeth, which happens when they are deep asleep.

Chipped and sensitive teeth as a result of bruxism in children should be treated seriously because it can eventually lead to eroding enamel. In cases where a child suffers from chronic bruxism, temporomandibular joint disease (TMJ) can develop.

Children experiencing bruxism may complain of a sore jaw when they first awake. Biting on objects such as pencils or fingernail biting could be a pointer that you child could be suffering from bruxism as they also tend to bite the inside of their cheeks.

There seems to be no direct link on children and bruxism. If a child got upset or angry during the day, this might show as signs of bruxism when they are asleep. Bruxism can also be a response to pain a child may be feeling. Babies who are teething may develop the condition. Hyperactive children are at a high risk of developing bruxism.

There is no cause for worrying about bruxism because children will always outgrow it.Children’s teeth and jaw are still at the developing stage and though bruxism could be common, there would be no emergency in seeking for treatment. If the clenching or grinding persists, it is advisable to let the child wear a night guard.

In all children who grind between the ages of 3 and 10, more than half will stop on their own by age 13. The case is different when it comes to teenagers as the cause determines how long bruxism lasts. But if caused by dental problem, then it should clear after the treatment, which could be within days.

British Airways plans to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 50% by 2050

Saturday, January 31, 2009

United Kingdom flag carrier British Airways (BA) has announced a plan to cut their net carbon dioxide emissions by 50% between now and 2050. The target was announced by airline head Willie Walsh speaking in Hyderabad upon the opening of a new route between London’s Heathrow Airport and the Indian city. This is the most ambitious such target set by an airline.

“Some people say that in economic times as desperately tough as these, we can afford to put climate change issues on one side. I could not disagree more. Halving net CO2 by 2050 is an extremely challenging target. But it is one I am sure we can achieve,” said Walsh.

“We will make progress through investment in cleaner aircraft, use of alternative fuels, more efficient flight routings and the spread of emissions trading from Europe to the whole world,” he explained.

“We have taken climate change issues very seriously for a long time. More than a decade ago, we became the first airline to publish fuel efficiency targets – and we have achieved an improvement since then of almost 30 per cent. […] We are the only airline to have experience of emissions trading, and we have helped fund research into lower-carbon aviation fuels. We are currently working closely with Rolls-Royce to develop alternative fuel opportunities.”

If successful, BA’s carbon dioxide emissions will lower from sixteen million tonnes in 2005 to eight million tonnes in 2050. Walsh also spoke of previous experience the airline had in the field, and noted that they “are currently working closely with Rolls-Royce to develop alternative fuel opportunities.”

UK Celebrity Big Brother loses sponsorship over racism allegations

Thursday, January 18, 2007

In the United Kingdom, The Carphone Warehouse, Celebrity Big Brother’s sponsor, has pulled out after some of the reality TV show’s contestants were accused of racism, with which the company did not want to be associated. The Perfume Shop has announced they will withdraw the perfume Shh… of Jade Goody, one of the contestants accused of bullying with a racist undertone. Motorcycle insurance company Bennetts unilaterally terminated its deal with former Miss England Danielle Lloyd to front an advertisement campaign.

The accusations centre around recent comments made by Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and Jo O’Meara (a former member of pop act S Club 7) about Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. The racism row was sparked by Jade’s mother, who referred to Shilpa as “the Indian”, instead of calling her by her name. She also asked Shilpa: “Do you live in a house or a shack?” There have been remarks over her accent, her alleged lack of hygiene when cooking, and reactions because she touched the food of housemates with her hands. Danielle Lloyd said: “You don’t know where those hands have been.” Lloyd also commented to Goody about the Indian actress: “She wants to be white”.

When asked about the incident in the Diary Room, Shetty said “…I don’t feel there was any racial discrimination happening from Jade’s end. I think there are a lot of insecurities from her end but it’s definitely not racial.”

Hertfordshire Police, the constabulary within which the Big Brother House falls, have received numerous formal complaints they will be investigating. Politicians, other celebrities, and fans spoke of their disgust as the UK media regulator Ofcom received a record number of complaints that rose tonight to 33,000. The Commission for Racial Equality is investigating if the footage was manipulated to deliberately imply racism.

Labour Party MP Keith Vaz even proposed a motion in the House of Commons condemning the abuse. He said “If this racist behaviour goes on, they [Jo O’Meara, Danielle Lloyd and Jade Goody] should be asked to leave”. Chancellor Gordon Brown, currently on tour in India, told reporters in Bangalore: “I want to reassure people that what British people are proud of is our reputation for tolerance and fairness.” Others believe this reflects a racist tendency in British our Western society in general. The newspaper Times of India ran the headline “Big(ot) Brother bullies Shilpa”. “What is happening in Big Brother is just holding the mirror to the western society. This is the real, discriminating face of the West.”, was the reaction of Bollywood film director Mahesh Bhatt. Ken Livingstone, the Mayor of London, accused Channel 4 of damaging the country’s reputation.

The show was recently losing viewers, but as a result of the controversy, viewing rates are up for the program.

Eurovision ’73 winner Anne Marie David discusses her four-decade career and the Contest, past and present

Monday, February 16, 2009

In the 1970s, she was one of the most popular female vocalists in France, and became well-known internationally. Anne Marie David, from Arles in the south of France, parlayed her initial success from playing Mary Magdalene in the French production of Jesus Christ Superstar into taking home the “grand prix” at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1973. Her winning song, “Tu te reconnaîtras” (You will recognize yourself), became a Europe-wide hit that spring.

At the height of her popularity, David perfomed world tours, and even lived abroad in Turkey for a time. In 1979, she tried once again to win the Eurovision, and placed a respectable third. Her song “Je suis l’enfant soleil” (I’m a child of the sun) became similarly popular across France and in the Francophone nations.

As time went on, however, her place in the French music scene became less certain. Touring the world had taken a personal toll, and David decided to retire from music completely in 1987. However, with the help of her fan base, she was coaxed out of retirement in 2003 and is returning to a part of her life that she tried to leave, but never left her. Celebrating four decades in the music scene, David is looking forward to adventurous new projects and a newfound zest for life.

Anne Marie David corresponded with Wikinews’ Mike Halterman about her eventful career, her personal anecdotes regarding living abroad, her successes in past Eurovision contests and her grievances with the way the show is produced today. This is the second in a series of interviews with past Eurovision contestants, which will be published sporadically in the lead-up to mid-May’s next contest in Moscow.

How To Keep Your Web Design Costs Under Control?

Submitted by: Creation Website

Whether you are a small or medium sized business, you will have your own budget constrictions when it comes to launching a new website. Every company spends a considerable amount of time in exploring various ways and means to minimize their web design costs. Here are few important factors that will help you keep your web design costs under control.

The nature and the scope of your website functionalities have a great role to play when it comes to the cost of your website design. Choosing features that are not nice to have but not absolutely necessary will only increase your overall website cost. So you should first list features that are very important to your website and features that decide the core functionality of your website. Once you have decided on these features, you can move on to additional bells and whistles and fancy features. You should get the estimation for your website from your web design UK company for all the features including the add-on features. If the overall estimate is within your budget you can very well proceed with your web design. If the overall cost is way beyond your budget, you can shed the secondary list of features without affecting the overall functionality or core functionality of your website and lower your expenses.

Secondly and most importantly you should make sure to get your take into consideration your on going website management requirements because many webmasters fail to take this factor into consideration and as a result they end up spending a lot of money on the website on an ongoing basis. So go for websites with content management systems and this will help you reduce your website management expenses on the long run. You need not have to approach a website design company for every little change you would like to make such as adding some new content or removing some text in your website or adding new pages etc.

Thirdly, take time to review as many UK web design companies as possible. This will help you find the best deals and offers available to you. You should make sure that you do not end up with a poor service provider in an effort to keep your web design expenses low. You will have to make sure that your web design company is capable of handling your requirements in the most professional way. CoolCreation charges very nominal fees for all its web design services but offers the highest standard services. So it is not that you will not be able to find cheap website design companies on the web but you just need to spend time in identifying the best website design UK companies that charge nominal fee. If you do not find the right web design company you will end up spending more money in rectifying the mistakes made by your service provider and in redesigning the entire website from different service provider which will waste your time and money.

India-China border-treaty hoped to improve ties, facilitate trade

Wednesday, April 13, 2005

India and China have settled long-time border disputes, and with freed up cross-border traffic look to creating what would be the largest trading bloc in the world, between the two most populous nations on the planet. During a recent visit by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to the Indian capital of Delhi, a border was finally agreed on paper.

“India and China can together reshape the world order,” Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Monday.

“China has a large manufacturing base. I believe it is the world’s factory. And India with its development in software and other areas, I feel, is the world’s office. What I am suggesting is to bring together the factory and the office,” Chinese Ambassador to India, Sun Yuxi, had said ahead of the visit.

The agreement is the first official document for the 3,500 km disputed border between the two countries, in more than 20 years. The dispute erupted into war in 1962, followed by a 14 years freeze in diplomatic relations.

China would give up claims on 90,000 square kilometers to the North-East of India, formally recognising as parts of India, Sikkim — a Himalayan kingdom that merged with India in 1975 — and Tawang — an area in Arunachal Pradesh which China had repeatedly claimed.

India would be formally recognising Tibet as a part of China, giving up Aksai Chin, uninhabited land on the Tibetan plateau that Beijing seized from the Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir in 1962. India agreed also “not to allow Tibetans to engage in anti-China political activities on its soil”, according to a report in The Economic Times of India.

A new cross-border trade route would be allowed through Nathula, in Sikkim, and significant road work was to facilitate higher traffic, at least on the Chinese side.

Eleven guiding principles and political parameters for resolving the disagreement, were put forth in the document, including a commitment to enhance bilateral trade from the present US$13.6 billion to US$30 billion by 2010 — trade which only a decade ago was worth just US$1 billion.

“This matter tells us that as long as the two sides bear sincerity, and patience, the border between China and India will become a bridge linking the friendship of the two sides,” Wen said of the document he signed with Singh.

“A growing and stable China is in the interest of India. Similarly, a growing and stable India is in the interest of China,” the Chinese Premier said.

“It shows a lot of give and take on both sides,” said National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan, India’s special representative for the border talks.

The treaty “respect[s the] status quo, and is tantamount to accepting the Line of Actual Control as the border between the two countries,” said Swaran Singh, a China expert at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.

“The next two years are very crucial to determine how much the two sides put the guiding principles into practice for the actual demarcation of the frontier,” he cautioned.

Feasibility of a China-India Free Trade Agreement would be examined — with China eager, but India tentative.
